FAQs
Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is Teletherapy?
Teletherapy, also referred to as video, online, and/or telephone therapy, telehealth or
telepsychology, is a psychotherapy service conducted through a secure, HIPAA compliant
platform. Teletherapy is a great alternative when in-person sessions are not feasible. Research finds that Teletherapy sessions are most often just as effective as in-person sessions, and good progress can be made through teletherapy sessions.
What Are The Benefits Of Teletherapy?
There are many advantages of online counseling. They include but are not limited to:
- No need to deal with transportation concerns, such as access, cost, and travel time.
- Easier access for clients whose concerns around travel, anxiety, or public interaction would have prevented their access to services.
- Increased comfort and familiarity for clients to interact within their own environments
Who Should Try Teletherapy?
Online counseling is for anyone. Whether you struggle with social anxiety challenges that affect or limit your public interaction, or you simply don’t love the idea of having to fight traffic and hunt for a parking spot, you can enjoy the benefits of meeting with your counselor online.

How Long Do I Have To Be In Therapy?
You don’t have to do anything! But if you want to make meaningful changes to your life and relationships, the length of treatment is based on your needs and what you want counseling to help with.
I’ve had clients who have come for a few sessions, followed through with recommendations in between sessions, and felt better and moved on. I’ve also had clients come back into treatment as needed or stay on to work on more complex issues. While it’s hard to predict how long therapy will take, I promise that I won’t keep you for longer than needed.
What Should I Do To Make The Most Of My Session?
When you prepare to do teletherapy, please make sure that you have a quiet, confidential place to join the session. It is preferred to use a computer or laptop, although a phone or tablet will work, too. Many people prefer headphones for improved sound and privacy. Just as in your in-person sessions, you and your therapist should be the only people in the room (unless you have decided to include others in your therapy session, with your therapists’ consent).
